This book really made me think about global warming and climate change. I really was able to make strong opinions about the characters. The book is exciting, funny at times, and meaningful. :)

This is the conclusion to the story begun in The New Policeman. In Ireland the weather has changed for the worse and food is running out. Only the Commander and his intimates have enough and they are forcing the weak to work for them. There is a better land beyond the time barrier – the land of the fairies – and there is a way in for humans (the ploddies) if only they would be allowed to go and would be welcomed by the Dagda, king of the fairies. This is an interesting story showing the end result brought on by lack of protection for the environment by our greedy demands on resources. Reviewed by BPL volunteer EE.
