This is the first, and probably last, of his books that I will read. A short book, but uninspiring prose makes it seem like a long read. I don’t care for his style of “oral history.” The book seems to lack scholarly rigor; more importantly, Mr. Brinkley does not provide really vivid descriptions of Rosa Parks and the key people and places in her life. His telling lacks intensity and drama. I now see that there is another, more recent, biography of Rosa Parks by Jeanne Theoharis. That might be a better read for another day.
